It was bound to happen. LG wasn't going to let the Blu-ray home theater system market pass it by. Read about their latest home theater system entry.
Hold onto your home theater seats, it looks like LG has done it again with the soon to be released fully Blu-ray home theater system. Known as the HB954TB, the home theater system will make LG the latest company to throw their hat into the Blu-ray ring.
Since Blu-ray was selected as the format of choice for the movie industry, more and more companies are looking to break into the market. LG is already well-known for the quality of their products, and this should be a reliable product once it’s fully released.
The HB954TB along with LG’s Blu-Ray player, the BD370, should provide the better audio and video quality of Blu-Ray along with the ability to improve the quality of your DVDs. Plus, you can play a variety of content on this system, including the YouTube and other streaming video content,
without having to go to your computer. You can also listen to IPod via this system, even using the remote control to scan your IPod library of music.
The system comes with 5.1 channel surround sound, Dolby True HD, DTS-HD Mater Audio: Essential and Dolby Digital Plus (a full feature list is below). You can adjust your sound based on what program you are watching and use an equalization setting specifically for your videogames.
Americans will have to wait for the system though. So far, it’s only available in other countries, including India, the Phillipines and other Asian countries. But, the pricing for the Blu-ray Player BD 370 looks to be around $400 when released and the HB954TB Home Theater looks to be over $1,000. The system should be very interesting once released, making the transition to Blu-ray pretty seamless and allowing them to play more vibrantly than ever before. LG is known for their quality so this should make a great addition to any home theater system.
One thought to think about before you start turning your entire system into Blu-ray is still the price. Blu-ray DVDs are still more expensive than traditional DVD collections and probably won’t be coming down in price for a while. So, if you’re on a budget, you may still look to having a traditional home theater system and skip the bells and whistles for now until the retail prices start receding. You can buy regular DVD players that play Blu-ray. Or, just get a standard DVD player and buy regular DVDs until your ready to make the plunge into the more expensive home theater equipment, as Blu-Ray players continue to get cheaper.
