The Onkyo TX-SR607 has something none of the other models have. It is the first receiver to come with Dolby Pro Logic IIz. Why is this significant? Well, you will now have additional front height channels in addition to the standard 5.1 and 7.1 configurations. Basically, it adds a channel that sits both front and center. It also comes with a subwoofer and two channels that are completely full in range. And, at $599, it’s a relatively inexpensive model.
Yamaha RX-V1065
Yamaha has also come out with a new receiver that is chockfull of amazing features. The RX-V1065 comes with a full set of HD functions, including Dolby TrueHD and the ability to play HD radio. It has 1080p video upscaling, 105W output and an amazing four 
HDMI inputs. Plus, you can play your IPod, IPhone or Bluetooth stored music or other audio on this device. At $999.95, it’s more expensive than the Onkyo TX-SR607, but it also comes with a lot more features.
Marantz SR6003
For around the same price as the Yamaha model, you can also get the Marantz SR6003 A/V receiver ($999 online). But, the audio on this model may even be superior to the RX-V1065. For example, a rock band would sound like it’s in the same room as you are. And, the video features respond very well to whatever you happen to be watching. Plus, the SR6003 is quite compact, which makes it easy for it to fit in tighter spaces and is quite attractive even if it’s exposed somewhere. It’s really easy to setup and calibrate.
