How the Guiltless Green Home Theater System Works
With so many things going green these days, and the President himself promoting green technologies, it’s no wonder that home theater system companies are throwing their hats in the ring. The Sound Room has come out with what it’s calling “sustainable luxury” with the Guiltless Green Home Theater System.
This new home theater system functions just like a normal home theater system, except that it will take you “off the grid” (off your electrical grid that is) for approximately 15 hours a week for movie viewing. The system runs on solar power. Basically, four solar panels are installed on your roof, and the system is hooked up to that. The solar cells within the panels collect energy from the sun, and they transfer that energy to the power grid of your home. This in turn rewinds your electricity meter and helps save you money.
The Guiltless Green Home Theater system will collect sunlight for nearly four and a half hours a day, producing 700 watts per hour. This adds up to nearly 22,000 watts per week. This equates to almost two hours a day of your favorite movie, without having to draw energy from your home’s electrical grid. At full capacity, this green home theater system will require about 1,5000 watts per hour. So, you get 15 hours total of basically free home viewing pleasure a week.
What the System Comes With
The system comes with a 100-inch Stewart screen, a Sharp front projector and Speakercraft in-wall speakers and subwoofer. The home theater system will be available for viewing in one of The Sound Room’s showrooms in July. Showrooms are located at the following Missouri locations: Creve Coeur, Chesterfield and Chesterfield Valley. You can find out more about the system by calling The Sound Room at (636) 537-0404.
Cost estimates have not been released on the system. Solar panels generally run between $1,500 to $1,800 plus installation and the home theater system itself. But, the company is saying that the system should be ready in about four years.
